Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Case Assistant / Litigation Paralegal with experience supporting California civil litigation matters, including Anti-SLAPP motions under California Code of Civil Procedure §425.16. The successful candidate will assist attorneys with legal research, document management, case preparation, drafting support, evidence organization, and litigation administration.
This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of California court procedures, and the ability to manage sensitive legal documents while working under attorney supervision. Anti-SLAPP matters often involve extensive legal research, motion practice, evidence review, and strict court deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in preparing responses and opposition packages related to Anti-SLAPP motions.
- Conduct legal and factual research using available legal research tools and public resources.
- Review, organize, summarize, and index pleadings, motions, declarations, exhibits, discovery responses, and court filings.
- Prepare case chronologies, fact summaries, witness summaries, and evidence binders.
- Maintain accurate case files and litigation records.
- Track litigation deadlines, hearing dates, filing requirements, and attorney tasks.
- Draft attorney-reviewed correspondence, declarations, exhibit indexes, document summaries, and litigation support materials.
- Assist with formatting pleadings, motions, oppositions, replies, and supporting documents.
- Perform citation checking, proofreading, and quality control reviews.
- Prepare filing-ready documents in accordance with California court requirements.
- Coordinate with attorneys, clients, witnesses, and third parties.
- Monitor court dockets and update case management systems.
- Organize digital and physical case files.
- Maintain confidentiality and data security standards.
- Support document collection, evidence management, and production requests.
- Conduct case law, statutory, and procedural research.
- Summarize legal authorities and supporting evidence for attorney review.
- Assist in identifying relevant facts, documents, and timelines.
- Prepare research memoranda and litigation summaries.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Case Assistant, or Litigation Paralegal.
- Experience supporting California civil litigation matters.
- Experience with motion practice and litigation document preparation.
- Strong legal research and document review skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and PDF management tools.
- Direct experience supporting Anti-SLAPP matters.
- Familiarity with California Code of Civil Procedure and court rules.
- Experience using legal research platforms such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, Fastcase, or similar tools.
- Experience with e-filing systems and litigation case management software.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Complete assigned legal research requests within agreed timelines (95% on-time completion rate).
- Process and organize case documents within 24 hours of receipt.
- Maintain 100% case file organization compliance.
- Achieve 98%+ document accuracy rate.
- Maintain less than 2% attorney revision rate due to formatting or administrative errors.
- Zero missed court deadlines attributable to case support activities.
- Prepare draft case summaries, chronologies, or research memos within established turnaround times.
- Ensure 100% of exhibits and supporting documents are properly labeled, indexed, and organized before filing deadlines.
- Complete docket monitoring and deadline updates within one business day of new court activity.
- Respond to internal attorney requests within 4 business hours.
- Maintain weekly case status updates for assigned matters.
- Achieve 95% adherence to client and attorney communication standards.
- Maintain 100% compliance with confidentiality and document security requirements.
- Ensure all work product is reviewed and approved by supervising counsel prior to filing or client delivery
